EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Timber Restoration Services engaged Entekra to address carbonation issues on the Lake Kurwongbuh intake tower bridge. The concrete piles and headstocks had deteriorated, with carbonation degrading the laitance and exposing the aggregate. SEQ Water was upgrading the bridge to extend the service life of their asset. Entekra commenced by removing contaminants with high-pressure cleaning. They then applied a three-coat, ultra-high-build anti-carbonation coating. This solution effectively addressed the carbonation damage, significantly extending the structure's expected lifespan.
